Our University

The University of Ruhuna is one of the leading universities in Sri Lanka. The University of Ruhuna was established by a special Presidential Decree on 1st September 1978 as Ruhuna University college fulfilling a long cherished desire of the people of Southern Sri Lanka.

Our Faculty

The Faculty of Management and Finance was established in 2003. At present, it is one of the foremost faculties consisting of four Departments of studies namely Department of Entrepreneurship, Department of Human Resource, Department of Accounting and Finance and Department of Marketing, in addition to the computer unit and the e-learning centre. At present Faculty offers courses in a range of disciplines leading to Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)Honours degrees.

Students

The students are provided with a friendly learning environment which encourages them to excel in one's field of study, and to achieve one's goals while maintaining strong personal relationships. The students are allow to exploit opportunities to engage in co-curricular activities at local and International levels.

ICME 2019

Faculty of Management and Finance , University of Ruhuna, one of the leading management faculties in Sri Lanka annually organizes the International Conference on Management and Economics (ICME) with the objective of creating a strong platform for academics, researchers and practitioners to exchange their knowledge in the field of Management and Economics.

Digital Disruption 2019

There will be brainstorming speeches with the intention of expanding the awareness on the concept, fueling up creativity and innovativeness to promote more opportunity creators than job seekers and real-life inspirational stories of entrepreneurs who expand the boundaries.

ADCON 2019

An advertising competition organized by the department of marketing, Faculty of Management and finance, University of Ruhuna which will enable the participants to bring out the hidden creativity within them.

Renewing Identity- Personality Development Workshop

Department of Human Resource Management organized a personality development workshop under the theme of “Renewing Identity”. It was held on 02 nd February 2022 at MFLT 02 from 01.00 pm onwards. Second year Human Resource Management specialized undergraduates were participated to shape up their personalities and enhance their passion to performing better in the industrial world. The resource person of the session was the well experienced Corporate Trainer Mr. Athula Kithsiri. Head of
the Department and Lecturers of the Department of HRM and students have participated in the session.

The First Session of the Branding workshop

The first session of the Branding workshop organized by the Department of Marketing was held on 5 th January 2021 from 3.00 P.M onwards via zoom. The session was carried out on the topic of “The journey towards building a strong brand: The experience sharing forum”. Mr. Lakmal Weerasiri (Laka) who is the founder and managing director of Sanity Creation- Lakai Sikai was the resource person of this session. As social media plays a critical role in today’s communication, building a strong brand and maintaining in for a long period of time is challenging. From this session students got the opportunity to listen to interesting facts with reference to building and marinating a strong brand in social media.

Ask an Expat
‘Ask an Expat’ is an expatriate experience sharing session organized by the Department of Human Resource Management held on 10th January 2022 from 10.00 am to 11.00 am via zoom. The aim of organizing this session is to enhance the awareness among 3000 level undergraduates regarding the expatriation topics related to the HRM 32413-International Human Resource Management subject. In this session, Ms. Shannon Holder, Project manager - Unlock Literacy, World Vision Australia shared her experiences regarding her foreign assignments done in Asian and European contexts. Lecturers of the Department of HRM and students in the Department of HRM have participated in the session.
Branding Workshop - Session II

The second session of the branding workshop series organized by the Department of Marketing, University of Ruhuna took place on 11 th January 2021 at 7.00 P.M onwards via zoom platform. The session was conducted by Mr. Irosha de Silva, CEO at CreativeHub. Mr. Irosha shared his expertise and experiences in the field of branding, making the session fruitful
