COIL Program-2024
The Department of Human Resource Management had the distinct honor of participating in a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project organized by the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. This event took place on December 11th, 2024, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, marking a significant milestone as the University of Ruhuna became the first Sri Lankan university to engage in such an innovative global learning experience. This is the second time in a row that the department has been involved in this project, after the inauguration ceremony held on December 6th, 2023. A selected group of students specializing in Human Resource Management, namely Dehan Randinu, Ranudi Uyangoda, Eranga Chathura, Ruvinda Zoysa, Jayaru Masakorala, Navodya Dissanayaka, Chamudi Wijesundara, Sachini Ayodhya, Pramodya Liyanapathirana, and Senal Wijesooriya, actively participated in this enriching program. Their dedication and engagement throughout the COIL experience were truly commendable.
Dr. K.G. Priyashantha, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management, initiated this event following an invitation from the Department of Operations, Technology, Events, and Hospitality Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. This initiative was further enhanced through collaboration with Dr. Bhawna Swami from the University of New Delhi and involved the participation of five students from prominent Indian institutions, including the University of Delhi, XLRI-Xavier School of Management in Jamshedpur, and the Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur. This valuable collaboration has significantly broadened our international network and provided invaluable cross-cultural learning opportunities.
The Department extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. K.G. Priyashantha for initiating this project and to Mr. Chiranjeewa Atapattu, Senior Lecturer and Department of International Partnerships Lead; Dr. Diane Connelly, Senior Lecturer; and Dr. Dario Tom Dieck, Deputy Head of the Department of Operations, Technology, Events, and Hospitality Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, for their invitation to participate in this exceptional initiative.
