CITSL Accredited Exemption for the BBA in Accounting Degree Program
The Department of Accountancy is pleased to highlight that the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Sri Lanka (CIT) has granted examination exemptions together with special fee concessions for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in accounting program. This is applicable to the 2026 intake of CITSL program
The students who have completed studies up to Level 2000 will be granted full exemption from the Application Level and the students who have completed Level 3000 and Level 4000 will be granted full exemption from the Application Level, plus additional exemptions from Accounting for Taxation and Business Law at Analyst Level 1. Further, CITSL has granted a 100% waiver of all exemption fees applicable under CITSL curriculum and 50% scholarship on course fees. more

ACCA Accredited Exemption for the BBA Honours in Accounting Degree Program
The Department of Accountancy is pleased to highlight that the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has granted formal examination exemptions to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Accounting degree program. Students are granted exemptions from selected subjects at both the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills levels, including Business Technology, Management Accounting, Corporate and Business Law, and Financial Reporting.
As a result, students will be able to bypass selected ACCA examinations, enabling them to progress more efficiently towards full professional qualifications. This achievement not only enhances the academic value of the degree but also strengthens students’ pathways toward global professional recognition, reinforcing the Department’s commitment to producing highly competent and industry-ready accounting graduates.

CMA Accredited Exemption for the BBA in Accounting Degree Program
The Department of Accountancy is pleased to highlight that the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka) has granted official examination exemptions for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration Honours in Accounting Degree Program. The program grants full exemptions from all subjects at the Certificate and Operational Levels, as well as selected subjects at the Managerial Level, including Corporate Reporting Assurance and Advanced Taxation and Corporate Law.
The exemptions enable students to progress more efficiently through the professional qualification pathway by waiving selected examinations, thereby accelerating their journey toward becoming qualified management accountants.

“Consumer Insights into Sales Success: Real-world Application in the Auto Industry”
The Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna successfully conducted an insightful guest lecture titled “Consumer Insights into Sales Success: Real-World Applications in the Auto Industry” on 26th May 2026 via Zoom for Marketing undergraduates
The session was delivered by Mr. Sandun Thennakoon, Senior Manager, New Vehicle Product/Sales at Toyota Lanka. He shared valuable industry experiences and practical insights into how consumer behavior influences successful sales strategies in the automobile industry.
The lecture mainly focused on the practical application of consumer insights in sales generation, with special emphasis on identifying and addressing the emotional factors that influence consumer purchasing decisions. Students gained a deeper understanding of how theoretical concepts of consumer behavior are applied in real-world marketing and sales environments

Collaborative digital finance workshop series
The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, successfully conducted its second collaborative academic workshop titled "Global Digital Payments Landscape and New Innovations" on 10th June 2026 from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. at MFLT 04. Proudly presented in continuous partnership with the Regional Branch of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Matara, this specialized session was specifically targeted toward 3000-level undergraduates to further build their digital financial competencies.
The session was organized under the institutional guidance of Senior Lecturer Mr. Madhura Kodithuwakku. Expert facilitators from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka delivered an extensive, practical overview designed to enhance student understanding of the rapidly evolving digital financial world. more

Idea Cloud 2025
Idea Cloud is a business concept competition where tertiary students and school-level students can pitch their creative ideas that propose alternatives for social and economic development in Sri Lanka. The competition will take place with the International Conference on Management and Economics for the sixth time in 2025. The main objective of the competition is to develop a platform to encourage innovative entrepreneurial ideas of the students. In this competition, the ideas can be new business models, startups, infrastructural modifications, or products which is the outcome of greater creative and innovative efforts of young generation. Concepts that can serve as the basis for a new business but have not yet been commercialized are eligible. Participants are invited to submit original concepts for new products, business models, businesses, or infrastructure improvements.

Academic Sessions is an annual forum organized by University of Ruhuna to share research findings of staff and students. The 20th Academic Sessions and 19th Vice Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna in 2023. under the theme of “Intellectual and Entrepreneurial Thrust for a Resilient and Progressive Society”. The Organizing Committee invites Abstracts and Extended Abstracts for oral/ poster presentations for the technical sessions. The submissions are limited to Academic/ Academic Supportive/ Administrative/ Non-Academic staff and students of the University of Ruhuna.

Faculty Day is a tradition that has been continuing in the faculty for the past years which is aimed at building a strong relationship between the academic members, students, academic supportive staff and non-academic staff.
