Field Visit 2026 corporate Exposure Completed

Our Field Visit 2026 was successfully completed on 26 June 2026, providing 4000-Level Human Resource Management undergraduates with valuable corporate exposure and practical industry insights.

During the visit, students explored LAUGFS Holding PLC, Commercial Credit & Finance PLC and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka, gaining firsthand experience of workplace practices, organizational culture, and professional HR environments.

Two-day industrial field visit – Department of Management and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, successfully organized a two-day industrial field visit to the Nuwara Eliya area on 4th and 5th June 2026 for 3000-level undergraduates. The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to diverse industries, including dairy production, hospitality, and apparel manufacturing.
During the visit, students explored the operations of Richi Dairies Lanka Pvt Ltd, Araliya Green Hills Hotel, and Safe T Garment, gaining first-hand insights into production processes, service excellence, quality control, supply chain practices, teamwork, and corporate management.more

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, successfully organized an insightful online academic session titled "TECH TALK: How to Use Digital Marketing Tools" on 14th May 2026 from 06:30 p.m. onwards via the Zoom virtual platform. Conducted under the Business Technology and Entrepreneurship specialization framework, this interactive webinar was designed for 2000-level and 3000-level undergraduates to sharpen their professional edge and level up their digital capabilities. more

Study Tour – 4000 Level- Department of Management and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, organized a highly educational industrial exposure excursion titled "Industry Exposure Visit" on 19th May 2026. Designed specifically for 4000-level undergraduates, this field visit served as a core practical component under the Corporate Entrepreneurship subject stream to expose final-year students to larger corporate structures and operational frameworks.

During the educational field visit, the final-year undergraduates had the valuable opportunity to visit two prominent corporate locations: Nature's Beauty Creations Ltd as the first destination, followed by Ceylon Anthurium (Pvt) Ltd. more

Educational Field Visit 4000 Level- Department of Finance

The Department of Finance, in collaboration with the Society of Finance Students (SoFiSt), successfully organized a two-day educational field visit on 8th and 9th June 2026 for 4000 level undergraduates. The program provided an excellent opportunity for students to bridge classroom learning with practical industry exposure through visits to the Head Office of the Bank of Ceylon and Academy of Adventure (AOA) Base Camp, Belihuloya.
During the visit to the Head Office of the Bank of Ceylon, students gained valuable insights into banking operations, financial services, organizational management, and contemporary practices in the financial sector. The interactive sessions with industry professionals enabled students to enhance their understanding of the practical applications of finance and banking concepts while exposing them to the professional working environment of one of Sri Lanka's leading financial institutions. more

Educational Field Visit for 3000-Level - Department of Finance

The Department of Finance, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, in collaboration with the Society of Finance Students (SoFiSt), organised an educational field visit for 3000-level undergraduate students to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka on 25th June 2026.

At the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, students attended an informative session conducted by Mr T.M.A. Jalil, Assistant Director, Communications Department, who explained the Bank's roles, monetary policy, financial system stability, and the banking sector. At the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, sessions were conducted by Mr Thushara Jayaratne, Acting Director General, and Mrs Sanjeewani Bakmedeniya, Assistant Director – Capital Market Education, covering capital market regulation, investor protection, market integrity, and financial literacy.

The field visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to Sri Lanka's financial system. It strengthened their understanding of the banking and capital market sectors through direct interaction with industry professionals.

The Department of Business Management   extend our sincere gratitude to the guest lecturer, Mr. Thushara Gajanayaka, CFO of Harischandra Mills PLC, for sharing his valuable insights, industry expertise, and guidance with our students. The session provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom theories with real-world business practices and gain practical knowledge from an experienced industry leader."

Department of HRM Conducts Workshop on Quality Management in Practice

The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna, successfully conducted a workshop titled "Quality Management in Practice - Building a Culture of Quality for Organizational Excellence" on 08 July 2026.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Kapila Bandara, Deputy General Manager - Compliance and Quality Systems Development of Maskeliya Plantations PLC / Namunukula Plantations PLC. He shared valuable practical insights on quality management, continuous improvement, and organizational excellence, helping students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world organizational practices.

The Department sincerely appreciates Mr. Kapila Bandara for his valuable contribution and extends its thanks to all participants for their active and enthusiastic engagement.

Idea Cloud 2025

Idea Cloud is a business concept competition where tertiary students and school-level students can pitch their creative ideas that propose alternatives for social and economic development in Sri Lanka. The competition will take place with the International Conference on Management and Economics for the sixth time in 2025. The main objective of the competition is to develop a platform to encourage innovative entrepreneurial ideas of the students. In this competition, the ideas can be new business models, startups, infrastructural modifications, or products which is the outcome of greater creative and innovative efforts of young generation. Concepts that can serve as the basis for a new business but have not yet been commercialized are eligible. Participants are invited to submit original concepts for new products, business models, businesses, or infrastructure improvements.

20th Academic Sessions And 19th Vice Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony

Academic Sessions is an annual forum organized by University of Ruhuna to share research findings of staff and students. The 20th Academic Sessions and 19th Vice Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna in 2023. under the theme of “Intellectual and Entrepreneurial Thrust for a Resilient and Progressive Society”.  The Organizing Committee invites Abstracts and Extended Abstracts for oral/ poster presentations for the technical sessions. The submissions are limited to Academic/ Academic Supportive/ Administrative/ Non-Academic staff and students of the University of Ruhuna.

Faculty Day 2022

Faculty Day is a tradition that has been continuing in the faculty for the past years which is aimed at building a strong relationship between the academic members, students, academic supportive staff and non-academic staff. The faculty organizes the event with the support of Physical Education Unit and the Sports Advisory Board of the University of Ruhuna. The 2022 faculty day intends to provide a fruitful opportunity to the faculty to enjoy a day filled with entertaining events and sports.
